Exercising Leadership: Foundational Principles

Being part of the Harvard global community of learners means connecting with a diverse group of individuals who share a common goal of growth and development. It’s not just about gaining knowledge from world-class professors like Professor Ronald Heifetz, but also about learning from the experiences, perspectives, and challenges of fellow learners from around the world. It’s an opportunity to collaborate, exchange ideas, and challenge myself in ways I wouldn’t be able to in a local environment.

Ermund C. R.

Exercising Leadership: Foundational Principles

The course made me see many important things to achieve objectives, the necessary tools, mutual help between colleagues, managing situations and differentiating moments of emotionality and rationality. Knowing how to find one, take care of oneself, and then help the other, is to adapt in each area and lead with courage.

This course has completely changed my thinking. Make Better Decisions: The Psychology of Blind Spots for Leaders and Teams

I would recommend the course of Outsmarting Implicit Bias to each of my family friend, professional and social colleagues to take up this role as it provides a key to open the lock of how our Minds work. In our day to day jobs, we somehow neglect to realize the impact of Pause and Rational Data based decisions. We somehow fail to realize the impact of the loss that we can incur due to our Intuitive decision making without understanding the impact of biases. IAT certainly came in as an Eye Opener for me and can help everyone in their journey to realize, accept and acknowledge first about their possible Implicit biases.

What struck me most wasn't just the tactical frameworks for managing distributed teams—it was the philosophical foundation that work should adapt to life, not consume it. I discovered that flexibility isn't a perk; it's a strategic advantage. That trust isn't soft leadership; it's the foundation of high performance. That geography is no longer destiny when it comes to opportunity.

Mahikan R.

Exercising Leadership: Foundational Principles

The study of rhetoric helped me move beyond technical communication to leadership communication. Analyzing speeches by leaders such as John F. Kennedy and Ronald Reagan showed me how clarity, tone, structure, and ethical restraint shape how decisions are received and acted upon. This is especially relevant to my work, where influencing stakeholders and aligning teams is often more critical than authority alone. Most importantly, this course reinforced that becoming a CEO is not only about making the right decisions, but about explaining those decisions clearly, ethically, and convincingly. It strengthened my confidence, improved my speaking and writing, and gave me a framework I will continue to use as I develop into an executive leader.
